Loomed Beadwork Basics and Beyond - 3 hours

This simple technique can create the most amazing beaded bands and fabrics. Learn to design your pattern, build and warp the loom, create a basic woven band, and then explore additional design options. Finishing techniques will be discussed.

Very simple tools, beautiful materials, and basic techniques make this accessible for many ages. 

Includes complete plans for building your own loom and supplies for two samples.


Teaching Young Weavers Toolkit  - 3 hours

Interested in adding weaving into your lesson plans? This will cover teaching K-12 how to weave using simple looms and basic materials. Math, science, and social studies are easy to integrate into these lessons, helping to reinforce core subjects.

Learn how to create a sequence of fun projects that build basic skills and ensure success. Tips for managing materials for large groups will be covered. 

Hands-on experience with paper weaving, straw weaving, cardboard, backstrap, and frame looms. Leave with a complete tool kit and samples for teaching young weavers the basics. Plans will be provided for making looms from simple materials.


A Passion for Plain Weave -
90 minutes

Explore the nearly limitless possibilities of the most basic weave structure. Expand your weaving toolbox and bring surprising variations to this essential structure with the elements of art  and the principles of design. See how color, value, texture, contrast, balance, proportion, pattern, and rhythm can impact and embellish your plain weave fabric. 

This session will show you how to use color and weave, energized yarns, novelty yarns, sett, non-traditional materials, warp painting and ikat, plied and marled yarns, and tracking to make your plain weave fabrics sing.

Extensive samples, drafts, slides, and inspiration will expand what you thought this simple weave can do.
